Screenshot Captor can help you take still images from your computer screen. It is good that it can also capture pictures from your webcam or a scanner. Moreover, it has a built-in picture editor.
Probably the easiest way to use the tool is with the help of the Quick Capture Bar, which is a minimalistic window that floats on top of anything else on your screen. Just a click on one of its buttons is enough to capture the desired image. Thus, you can use it to grab the screen, the active window, a given region and even the complete workspace (in case you are using multiple monitors). However, if you want to capture a scrolling region or a specific object, or import images from a camera or scanner, you need to do it from the application’s main window or the menu appearing in the System Tray. Luckily, it is also possible to set hotkeys to perform those same tasks.
Once taken, the shots can be sent directly to a printer, held in the clipboard or uploaded to a Cloud service. Another possibility is to edit them before saving them as picture files. In this respect, the built-in editor allows basic operations as cropping and rotating. In addition, it lets you add special effects, borders and background. It is a shame that the editor’s interface is somewhat crammed with options.
All in all, Screenshot Captor is quite versatile as to capturing still images. Yet, unlike other similar applications available out there, this one cannot grab any type of video. Therefore, if you are searching for a tool to take both still and moving pictures from your screen, it would be a good idea to continue looking. Although it requires a license, the product is free for personal use.
